Science and Technology are the keys to our future. I encourage any person with an interest in these areas to persue it and especially young females that might otherwise think that these are roles reserved for men. We need all the help we can get. There is much out there to be discovered and truths to be revealed.

JUNE ~ National Women in Science and Technology Month
Are you interested in a career that involves science or technology? Check out these great organizations with a specific focus on encouraging women's involment with Science and Technology. I'm so glad I was born in the U.S.A. and that it gives me the freedom, as a woman, to pursue any career I choose.
During the 1990's, WITI successfully worked with the Clinton administration to officially recognize June as National Women in Science and Technology Month. Over the last two decades WITI has inspired the acknowledgement of women in both Science and Technology through outreach and advocacy, local area network events, articles, webinars and the annual Women Powering Technology Summit, which features the prestigious Annual WITI Hall of Fame Awards.
NCWIT - National Center for Women & Information Technology
http://www.ncwit.org/
NCWIT is the National Center for Women & Information Technology. We are a coalition of over 250 prominent corporations, academic institutions, government agencies, and non-profits working to increase the participation of girls and women in computing and IT. NCWIT is a 501(c)(3)*, established in 2004.
They believe that inspiring more women to choose careers in IT is a compelling issue of innovation, competitiveness, and workforce sustainability. In a global economy, gender diversity in IT means a larger and more competitive workforce; in a world dependent on innovation, it means the ability to design technology that is as broad and creative as the people it serves.
WEST - Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology, Inc
http://www.westorg.org/
WEST’s goal is to improve the leadership status of women in science and technology by inspiring them to achieve success in their organizations and create positive impact in their communities.
Our diverse membership represents industries ranging from information technology and biopharmaceuticals to cleantech and environmental sciences. We bring together peers to share their experience and passion in a supportive learning environment.
Launched in 2000 the WEST organization provides a forum for women in science and technology industries to network and share information about career advancement and skill development. Uniquely tied to this highly educated, influential community, the WEST leadership has long provided a supportive environment for mid-career women in these vital sectors, allowing them a unique opportunity to acquire the skills necessary to become business leaders in their fields.
IWITTS - National Institute for Women in Trades, Technology, and Science
http://www.iwitts.org/
IWITTS helps educators nationwide close the gender gap for women and girls in male-dominated careers, such as technology, the trades and law enforcement.
They also have worked in-depth with law enforcement agencies and other employers to assist them with integrating women successfully into their workplaces.

Happy World IPv6 Day!
Today, June 8, 2011, The Internet Society (ISOC) is sponsoring a 24-hour, global test flight of IPv6. Major organizations will enable IPv6 on their main websites for 24 hours.
The goal of this event is to motivate organizations to prepare for a successful transition of Internet activity as IPv4 address space runs out. Without an industry-coordinated action there is a risk of increased costs and limited functionality for online Internet users everywhere.
More info at: http://www.isoc.org/
What Internet users can do to get ready for World IPv6 Day?
Most Internet users will not be affected. Web services, Internet service providers, and OS manufacturers will be updating their systems to ensure Internet users enjoy uninterrupted service. In rare cases some may still experience connectivity issues when visiting participating Websites. Users can visit: http://test-ipv6.com/ to test if their connectivity will be impacted. If the test indicates a problem, you can contact your ISP to help fix the problem.
